Our crowdfunding platform gives Manchester alumni and friends the chance to support good causes on campus – causes that have been chosen by students and staff to make a positive impact on society.

Whether it’s kick-starting a student’s theatre career with their first production or sending medical students to Uganda to set up a health clinic, there’s a project to inspire everyone.

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a way of raising money and support for a project from the general public. Students or University staff pitch an idea and if people like what they see, they can back the project with a financial pledge. If the project meets its target and goes ahead, donors will receive regular updates by email. They can also contact the project team directly by leaving a comment or sending them a message.

What kinds of projects are suitable?

Projects can be about anything that aims to benefit students, the University, or the wider community. Projects will be assessed on their potential impact, their creativity, and the level of organisation and commitment demonstrated by you and your team.

Are there any fees?

The University of Manchester covers the costs of processing the payments so you receive every penny that you’ve been pledged.

All-or-nothing funding?

Every project must meet its minimum target by the completion date or no funds change hands. Why? Part of the appeal of crowdfunding is that sponsors get to engage with projects and see where their money is going. This keeps everyone happy!
